White-throated Laughingthrush (Pterorhinus albogularis)

Oil on compressed wood fiber (acid-free Masonite)
9 x 12 inches
USD $500.00

This is the kind of painting I tried so hard to do when I was a kid, what I call “illustrative”, and most likely to appeal to birders and ornithologists, especially those who have travelled to or live in southeast Asia. This species in or near the lower Himalayas and Himalayan foothills, in subtropical or tropical most montane forests in parts of Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Myanmar and possibly Pakistan, where it may now well be entirely extirpated, as well as suitable habitat in Tibet and Vietnam. They are filled with buoyant energy and curiosity, reminding of me jays. They are placed in the family of birds known as the Leiothrichidae.
